Statement from Former Congressman Tom Suozzi and his Campaign on Mazi Pilip’s Misleading Attacks on his Immigration Record
Glen Cove, NY – Former Congressman Tom Suozzi and his campaign, today, issued the following statements in response to Mazi Pilip’s misleading attacks:
“You can’t fix immigration from the basement, which is the campaign Mazi Pilip is running – refusing to talk to voters, ducking issues, and offering soundbites from party bosses. The only real solution to immigration requires a bipartisan effort that combines tougher border security with common sense reforms that stops illegal immigration and creates a pathway for those who follow the rules,“ stated Congressman Tom Suozzi.
“Mazi Pilip is hiding from voters; no one knows anything about her or her positions but she and her puppet masters in the national Republican Party are launching desperate and flat-out false attacks against Tom Suozzi,” said Kim Devlin, Suozzi for Congress senior advisor.
“Tom Suozzi has always done what’s best for Nassau and Queens. In 2018 and 2019, when national Democrats were demonizing and trying to defund ICE, he stood up to his own party and voted to both support and fund ICE. Tom has worked across the aisle with Peter King to come up with a Grand Compromise to address immigration. And in 2007, when rogue ICE agents drew their weapons on Nassau County police officers, Tom and the Nassau Police Commissioner took ICE to task for putting Nassau County citizens at risk.”
“The voters in Nassau and Queens know that Tom Suozzi is a commonsense and bipartisan leader who gets things done. Mazi Pilip should stop trying to rewrite history when the facts are not on her side and instead get out of the witness protection program her party bosses have put her in and let voters know who the real Mazi Pilip is,” furthered Devlin.
