Pilip Flip-Flops on Trump, Abortion in CNN Interview
She is untested, unvetted, unprepared, and dangerous.
Glen Cove, NY – In an interview with CNN’s Manu Raju this morning, Conservative and Republican nominee in the special election in the Third Congressional District Mazi Pilip did a complete about-face from her normal evasion of questions and finally laid her marker down on her support of Donald Trump even if he is convicted of a crime and solidified her opposition to women making their own decisions regarding their reproductive health.
Having been attacked by Trump and MAGA supporters, and when pushed by Raju on Inside Politics, Pilip abandoned her previous position, which was a non-endorsement (she had said we need to see how the GOP primary unfolds) and instead gave her full-throated endorsement of Donald Trump and claimed he is innocent of the 91 criminal charges against him. Earlier, she said she would never support Trump if he were convicted. In addition, she made it abundantly clear that she would not codify Roe v. Wade.
“Even in the basement where she’s been hiding, it’s clear she’s feeling the heat for not taking positions,” said Suozzi for Congress senior advisor Kim Devlin. “When she is finally pushed out of hiding and cops to a full embrace of Trump and admitting that she would not vote to codify Roe vs Wade, it becomes even more clear of how out of step she is with the voters in NY-03.”
After refusing to say whether she voted for Trump in 2020 and that the election was not stolen, and saying she wouldn’t support Trump if he’s convicted of a crime earlier this week, Pilip is now saying she would support the criminally indicted former president and that she believes he has not committed any crimes.
“If it wasn’t clear before, it is now: Mazi Pilip is taking her talking points straight from her Republican bosses, and they clearly weren’t happy with her attempt to distance herself from the former president,” said Devlin.
Pilip also cemented her opposition to codifying Roe v. Wade – a position that would ensure politicians – not women and doctors – are in control of women’s healthcare decisions, and she once again praised the disastrous Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision.
“The bottom line is that Mazi Pilip is unvetted, untested, unprepared, and will be dangerous for the people of Nassau and Northeast Queens,” continued Devlin. “The more she is forced out of hiding, the more we see this.”

PILIP: “I will support… He was a great president. He did great things… I know that he didn’t commit any crime.”

HOST: “Would you support codifying Roe v. Wade?”
PILIP: “The Supreme Court already took it to the states and each state is making its decision on its own.”
HOST: “The Dobbs decision, did you think that was the right decision?”
PILIP: “Again, the Supreme Court – I have faith on the Supreme Court. They’re making the right decision to move it to the states.”
