Suozzi Statement on Mazi Pilip: “Endorsing Chaos at the Border”

Glen Cove, NY – Today, former Congressman Tom Suozzi released the following statement after Mazi Pilip was endorsed by the National Border Patrol Council:

“Today’s Pilip press event was bizarre. The National Border Patrol Council supports the bipartisan border deal, and so do I. Pilip opposes it.

“In the final days of this race, Mazi Pilip is showing her true colors. After saying absolutely nothing of substance for the past two months, Pilip is now against the bipartisan compromise that offers our best chance at securing the border in forty years. She’s endorsing chaos at the border because she believes it will help her and Donald Trump politically.

“I have made it clear that I will do anything and work with anyone to put forth bipartisan solutions to fix our border in order to get results for the people of Nassau County and Queens. People are tired of this political theater from both parties, and they want results.

“It’s not surprising that one of Donald Trump’s most reliable partners, the border patrol union president has endorsed the Donald Trump-aligned candidate, even if it’s illogical based upon her not supporting the deal they endorsed. It’s not surprising, but it points to a broken system.

“Pilip is untested, unvetted, unprepared and has made it abundantly clear that she’ll only be a problem maker, not a problem solver in Congress.”
