Pilip’s Double-Speak on Abortion
The Suozzi for Congress campaign today is highlighting Republican Mazi Pilip’s double-speak on reproductive freedom.
Pilip, running for the February 13 special election in NY-03 on the extremist Conservative Party line, has refused to debate, refused to answer questions, has offered no plans or ideas, and has been in hiding from the voters.
DCCC – NEW: Mazi Pilip Spends Day In DC Ducking Questions on Abortion
Mazi Pilip isn’t just spending today in DC cozying up to her extreme Republican Party bosses – she’s also continuing to duck questions on abortion.
Asked if she would support voting to codify Roe v. Wade nationwide, Pilip’s staffer interjected and said, “No, sorry”:
Day 10. 12 Debate Invites. Suozzi 5 (at least). Pilip 1 (barely).
12 debates…and counting.
That’s how many TV debates and candidate forums Mazi Pilip has been invited to.
She has accepted only one… just FIVE days before the election – a full five days after early voting starts – and not available in Queens.
Pilip Still Ducking Debates, Ducking the Press, Ducking the Issues
Former Congressman Tom Suozzi, on a Zoom press conference yesterday, outlined his ideas on pressing immigration issues, urging the President and Congress to find common ground on border safety and immigration reform and pass bipartisan legislation to solve the migration crisis at the southern border.
Suozzi Urges Bipartisan Approach to Address Immigration Crisis
Today, former Congressman Tom Suozzi called on President Biden, as well as House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Leader Hakeem Jeffries, to find common ground on border safety and immigration reform.
Day Four Question to Mazi Pilip: Do you agree with the Conservative Party on Abortion?
Asked if she agreed with the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision last year to overturn Roe v. Wade, Pilip said, “Abortion is a personal decision,” and once again, did not answer the question.
As she has in her last two campaigns, Pilip is running on the Nassau Conservative Party line, which states that abortion should be banned, even in the cases of rape or incest.
Day 3: Pilip Still Ducking Debates
In an attempt to duck any broadcast televised debates and to avoid any need to take positions, Mazi Pilip has agreed to a News12 debate on February 8th, five days before the election and well after early voting starts.
Day 2: Questions Pilip refuses to Answer
Yesterday, December 26th, the Suozzi for Congress campaign announced that former Congressman Tom Suozzi would participate in at least three televised debates, WABC, WNBC/Telemundo, and NY1/WNYC, while his opponent has not accepted any debate invitations.
